RESIDENTIAL BUILDING

Address:  18/17, Valovaya Street, Moscow

Design — 2004–2005
Realization — 2005

The site is located next to Paveletskaya Square, at the crossing of the Garden Ring and 3rd Monetchikovsky Lane. The nearest environment is mainly represented by multistoried residential buildings, constructed during the Stalin period.

The 14–storey building is virtually the continuation of the existing 10–11–storey residential building in Valovaya Street. Thus, the historically determined logic of the facades solution, rhythmic of vertical and horizontal divisions followed. At the same time, the corner position of the building determined the appearance of a tower shape with triangular glassed balcony, which is crowned by an octagon with hip roof and gable end.

Only 39 apartments are envisaged in this building — from 1–room to 4–room apartments. The ground floor comprises the shopping area. There is also an underground parking. Such set of options allows presenting the residential building in Valovaya Street as one of the first examples of commercial dwelling, which became popular in the 2000s.
